Membership Options

Please see the different categories of membership below. All annual memberships are for a 12-month period. If you are unsure which membership is most applicable to you, please email us.

Individual

  • ACGC membership is currently free and open to individuals who are currently engaged in-house legal counsel roles across Africa.
  • This includes Legal Counsel, Company Secretaries, Compliance Officers, working in private sector organisations, government department or agency, quasi-government or administrative body for whom the primary business of the organisation must be other than providing legal-related service.
  • Eligible positions include full-time in-house and government counsel (employed directly by government)
  • Those engaged in the provision of legal, contract management/administration or corporate secretarial services or other related activities;
  • Legal operations professionals in corporate legal departments in Africa; and
  • Other in-house legal counsel working outside the continent whose present employers’ headquarters or other operations are based in Africa.

Corporate

  • Corporate Membership is open to corporate legal departments in Africa-based companies with five or more individuals.
  • Legal departments with fewer than three members may join ACGC as individual members for free;
  • Corporate Membership is required in order to partner with ACGC on future initiatives;
  • Corporate Profile within Member Directory, with individuals having full access to all membership benefits;
  • Individual lawyers of the group membership will also have their profiles listed in the Member Directory;

Public Sector (PS)

  • Open to government offices or public sector institutions who wish to sponsor two or more legal professionals for ACGC membership.
  • Government counsel is defined as those employed directly by the government, not those employed by a firm whom serve government clients.
  • Government lawyers will be entitled to a 15% discount from the Standard Individual Annual Membership rate.
  • Public Sector Profile within the Member Directory with full access to all membership benefits;
  • An additional number of individual lawyer listing entries for the Member Directory.
  • These individuals will be granted full access to all membership benefits as well.
